Lady Pirates dominate Bears on track

Greensburg’s girls track team won 11 of the 15 events Thursday and cruised to the 78-29 victory over the visiting Golden Bears.
Taryn Owens was a double winner on the night as she ran to the title in the 1600 (5:47) and in the 300 hurdles (:52.2).Veronica Tuley won the 3200 in 12:59 and was second in the 1600 in 6:03. Brianna Parson finished third in the 1600 with a time of 6:10 and Gina Ricke took second in the 3200 in 13:46.
The Lady Pirates swept the high jump event with Tawna Chauncy winning with a leap of 4-10 followed by Casey Nelson second (4- 8) and Tara Ramer third (4- 8).
Greensburg also swept the throwing events. In the shot put, Erica Schwering had a winning distance of 33-11. Sabrina Smiley was second at 33-9 and Mollye Leas took third at 30-10.
Leas won the discus with a toss of 102-7.5. Schwering took second (96-4) and Smiley was third (88-6).
Katie Burns won the long jump with a leap of 14-0.75. Greensburg’s Shelbi Reed finished second at 13- 9.25. Burns ran to second place in the 100 with a time of :13.9.
Parsons won the 800 with a time of 2:46 with Val Hagerty second at 2:49. Parsons also finished third in the pole vault.
In the 200, Burns was second in :30.4 and Chauncy finished third in :32.3.
Reed ran to victory in the 400 with a time of 1:05.7.
In the relays, Greensburg won the 3200 with a time of 11:31, won the 1600 in 4:42 and took second in the 400 in :58.13.
