David and Janeanne Leas
Road Trip on The National Road
Saint Louis, Missouri to Indianapolis, Indiana
November 11, 2011
Due to many miles of construction on Interstate 70 we decided to take
U.S. 40 home from St. Louis. Since we were trying to get back to
Greensburg at a decent time, we did not make many stops, but shown on these
pages are a few photographs that I took.
I took this photo on November 10th, the day that we left for
Saint Louis.
The temperature plunged to below freezing that night.
Unfortunately these flowers did not make it through the night.

The reason for the trip.
Mollye and her friend Erin were both inducted into the Saint
Louis University Chapter of the Alpha Eta Society.
The Alpha Eta Society is a national honor society for the Allied Health
Professions, in this case, Physical Therapy.

This is a spur of U.S. Hwy 40 and it is part of the original National Road.
This covered bridge which crosses the Embarras River, replaces the original
structure that was built 177 years ago.
