A confirmed vegan, who lived to the age of 102, Ector was a founder of Planned Parenthood in Palm Beach County. For many years he was involved in the family business, AmTote. Later he headed Canada Dry's US division before retiring.
Ector married Fernanda W. Wanamaker, daughter of Lewis Rodman Wanamaker and Fernanda Antonio Dehenry. (Fernanda W. Wanamaker was born on 9 Dec 1887 in Jenkintown, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania and died on 30 Sep 1958 in Hotel Continental, Paris, France.)
Ector next married Virginia Abbott.
