S. Steuart Hoopper (ca. 1884-1972) was born at Stony Ridge Farm in Dorchester Co., Maryland, moving to Baltimore city in 1893. His parents were Samuel James Hoopper (1862-1942) and Susie Steuart Hoopper (1861-1943). Married in 1910 to Julia Fowler (1886-1974) of Baltimore, daughter of Isaac Fowler (1853-1922) and Julia Leas Fowler (1857-1932), the couple had a daughter named Julia Fowler Hoopper (b. 1913). S. Steuart Fowler was an accountant/auditor, employed by Merchants and Miners (1907-1910), Bartlett-Hayward Co. (1918-1920), the Baltimore Steamship Company (1920-1924), and the Finance Service Company (1924). Later he worked on his own, as "S. Steuart Hoopper, Business Consultant".
The family lived at a number of residences in Baltimore, some in the city and some in areas that were then in the county but are now in the city. These included 516 Beaumont Ave. in Govans (1907-1910), 1310 Myrtle Ave. (1910-1913), 509 Beaumont Ave. (1913-1915), 1606 Harlem Ave. (1915-1925), and 2827 Guilford Ave. 1
S. married Julia Fowler, daughter of Isacc Fowler and Julia Amelia Leas, in 1910. (Julia Fowler was born in 1886 and died in 1974.)
