General Notes:
(This tidbit is about my grandmother, Carl's wife) Bessie [last name Parr], the youngest of her siblings, was a strong willed and independent person. She had a small tax business, was very much into antiques and old, rare coins. She didn't trust banks and would more likely hide her valuables in the flour sifter, or in the basement buried among other cans or somewhere in the yard. At the cottage she had her own boat and motor; generally, whenever they drove anywhere, it was Bessie doing the driving. She would buy a new car once every 10 years - - whether she needed to or not.
In a letter dated March 3, 1967, Bessie wrote, "In regard to the Gramling tree, Carl said his great grandfathers name was Isiac grandfather's name Richard and father's name Albert. They came from New York and Pennsylvania. That's all he knows. Now if you would like to hear my side of house. My grandfather name was George as was my father and also my brother whom passed away. My grandparents came from Germany. That's why I have such big feet."

• Occupation: 7-4.
Bessie married Carl Gramling, son of William Gramling and Mary May. (Carl Gramling was born about 1892 2.)
