Ronald A. Klaffke ORION, Ill. -- Ronald A. Klaffke, of Orion, Ill., passed away on Friday, August 18, 2006, at Trinity Terrace Park, Bettendorf. Private family graveside services will be held, with a memorial service at a later date. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 24, 2006, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Runge Mortuary. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Ronald was born December 18, 1945, in Rock Island, the son of Raymond and Stella (Leas) Klaffke. He was united in marriage to Mary K. Peterson on July 15, 1969, in Rock Island. Ronald graduated from Alleman High School in 1963. He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969, with tours in Korea and Vietnam. He recently retired from the Rock Island Arsenal, TACOM as an Equipment Specialist. He was a member of the Quad Cities Rugby Club and the Irish Rugby Football Club of the Quad Cities. Ronald was an avid bicyclist. He participated in RAGBRAI, Bike Viet Nam, New York City Five-Borough Ride, and numerous bike tours and rides throughout the United States. Immediate family left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 37 years, Mary, Orion; son, Ronald Klaffke, Tempe, Ariz.; daughter, Elisabeth Klaffke, Orion; granddaughter, Veronica Talbot, Orion; brother, Gerald Klaffke, Melbourne, Fla.; sister, Mary Willock, Tremont, Ill.; and sister-in-law, Shirley Allbee, Blue Grass, Iowa. His parents preceded him in death.
Note: Ronald Klaffke (d. Aug. 18, 2006), he was the son of Stella (LEAS) and Raymond KLAFFKE. Stella was a daughter of Andrew C. Leas of Omaha Nebraska.
