Dorothy Suedbeck was born July 6, 1930, in Slayton, Minnesota, to Roy and Bernice Cahill Leas. In 1941 Dorothy went to live with Nettie Wunderlich and was adopted by her in 1946. She grew up in Slayton and graduated from Slayton High School in 1949. Dorothy then attended Normal Teacher Training Class in Lamberton, MN, graduating in 1950. Following graduation Dorothy taught country school in Murray County. On June 17, 1952, she and Clifford Suedbeck were married at St. Ann's Church in Slayton. Following their marriage they made their home in Slayton and Dorothy taught at Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Currie, MN, and later country school near Hadley, MN. Dorothy also worked as a substitute teacher in the Slayton school system. In 1962 they moved to Fulda, MN. While living in Fulda, Dorothy worked as a substitute teacher, spring primary teacher and Title I aide. Dorothy helped to organize the Prairie Music Concert Series while in Fulda. They later moved to Worthington, MN. In 1981 Dorothy began working as a nurse's aide at Worthington Regional Hospital in Worthington and later at the Fauskee Nursing Home in Worthington. In 1987 Dorothy began working for CCSI and Lakeview School in Worthington. She retired in 1992 from Lakeview. Clifford passed away on May 15, 2001. Following Clifford death, Dorothy continued working for CCSI until retiring in 2009. Dorothy passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010, at her apartment in Worthington at the age of 79. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Worthington. Dorothy was a charter member of the Prairie Chorale and was in three productions at Worthington Community College.

Survivors include her three children and their spouses, Michael and Denise Suedbeck of Worthington, MN, David and Kim Suedbeck of Machesney Park, IL, and Heidi and Grover Jennings of New Albany, MS; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, John Leas of Mankato, MN.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at St. Ann's Church, Slayton, with Fr. Tim Biren officiating. Interment is in St. Ann's Cemetery, Slayton.
