Richard Coy, the elder, was born in Boston, Lincolnshire, England around1605. He later lived in Stamford, Lincolnshire. The name of his wife was Luciana Lenton. They had at least three children, Richard, Matthew & Luciana or Lucy. Richard the elder died in April of 1638 in Stamford. The will of Richard Coy of Stamford was dated December 22, 1637 and proved at Stamford on April 10, 1638. The will does not name his wife or children, but gives his children five Pounds each, to be paid immediately if his wife takes another husband. His wife remarried later that year, to Edward Bulkely.
