Reed, Odula, 80, of New Era, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004 at her home. She was born Dec. 15, 1924 in Coe Township, near Shepherd, to Vern and Doris (Dearborn) Best. She married Carl T. Reed, Jr. Dec. 23, 1945 in Little Rock, Ark. Mrs. Reed was the owner of the Needle Nook Quilt Shop in New Era for over 20 years. She owned the Country Fair Mall in New Era for 15 years where she taught quilting and shared her philosophy of life with her friends, students and customers. She was a 36-year member of the New Era Chamber of Commerce and served many years on the Oceana County Board of Canvassers. She was also a 4-H leader for over 25 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Clara Miller, brothers, Claude and Martin Best, her beloved husband, Carl, and her son, Vern. She is survived by two daughters, Gayle Foutch of Gladwin and Ellen (Michael) Pallasch of Muskegon; two sons, Carl "Ted" (Lydia) Reed of Eastford, Conn. and Vance (Beth) Reed of Westfield, Mass; and a sister, Wilma Rozeboom of Schoolcraft. She also leaves behind her "other kids" - Karla Polom, Rosie Johnson and TeriRene Howard; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and many, many other friends and family. Funeral service was Tuesday, Dec, 28, 2 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby. Interment was in Mennonite Cemetery. 2
