Martha Maxine Cole ²

Martha, 90, of Lansing, MI. passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. She was born to Ralph and Ida (Gould) Coles.

Martha worked as a Cook for Mary Ave. Nursing Home in Lansing. She enjoyed playing cards, dice and crossword puzzles. Martha also enjoyed northern Michigan where she would camp and go hunting and fishing. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a former member of the Miller Bible Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Ralph Leist; sisters, Laura, Edith, Stella; brothers, Ronald, Roland and her parents.

Surviving are her daughters, Phyllis Brown, Carol (Johnnie) Perry, Mary Barner, Paula Vallance; son, George (Linda) Leist; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren; sisters, Delanie Kissell, Sally (Ken) Postma as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Skinner Funeral Home, Lansing Chapel.

Martha married Joseph William Woodbury on 6 Jan 1943 in Mt. Pleasant, Isabella County, Michigan, USA. (Joseph William Woodbury was born in 1914 in Isabella, Isabella County, Michigan, USA and died on 7 Jun 1944 in Normandy, France.)

Martha next married Ralph LeRoy Leist, son of Silas LeRoy Leist and Nora Ellen Pumfrey, on 29 Jun 1945 in Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan, USA.¹ (Ralph LeRoy Leist was born on 2 May 1920 in Ionia County, Michigan, USA, died on 15 May 1991 in Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan, USA and was buried in East Lawn Memory Gardens, Okemos, Ingham County, Michigan, USA ².)
