3. Joel Croff' (son of John') (1). Born in Ware, Mass., 12 June, 1779. Married 7 Nov., 1799, Betsey Marsh, daughter of Judah and Elizabeth Marsh of Ware, where she was born 21 Sept., 1781. After their marriage they lived a short time in Western, now Warren, Mass., but returned to Ware, and lived with his father on the old Simonds farm. In the year 1840 they removed to South Wallingford, Vt., where he died in 1862, M. 83. She died 20 Apr., 1858, As.. 76. They had eleven children. In the town records of Ware the births are recorded as Croft, but in the old family bible, still preserved, the name is spelled Croff. The children adopted the terminal "t" in spelling, in place of "f."

Hannah Aiken Croft, b. in Ware, Mass., 28 July, 1816.

Joel married Betsey Marsh on 7 Nov 1799 in Ware, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA. (Betsey Marsh was born on 21 Sep 1781 and died on 20 Apr 1858 in South Wallingford, Vermont, USA.)
