David Scott Leas, 55, died June 22, 2011, with his family and friends by his side in Martinsburg, WV.
He was born February 16, 1956, in Gary, Indiana to Albert and Bonnie Leas. The family moved to Potomac, Maryland in 1968. His father was an administrator and his mother was an elementary school teacher, both serving with Montgomery County Maryland Public Schools.
Dave attended Herbert Hoover Junior High and Winston Churchill High School in Potomac where he played football. He graduated from University of Maryland in College Park in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio and Television.
Dave loved working in real estate, taking diamond-in-the-rough properties and making them shine. His work was his passion in life.
Though his life was too short, Dave was full of energy and always completely enjoyed the moment. Dave loved playing the harmonica, music, playing darts, cooking and eating. But mostly, he loved visiting Caribbean beaches, and sharing good times with his many friends and his extended family.
He is survived by his brother, Steve Leas, and Steve's wife Claudia, and their children, Courtney, Aubrey and Stevie. In addition to being survived by his sister, Beckie Harrell, her husband John, along with their children Brian and Kim and 7 great- nieces and nephews, Dave is also survived by his sister Jackie Ringhausen, her husband, John, and their children Jeff and Julie and 2 more great-nieces and nephews.
Also surviving is Dave's "kid" and "man's best friend" Chester, his dog, whom Dave loved more than life itself. Chester will be adopted by Sue McCourt.
Those who knew Dave, realized how much he loved animals; therefore, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Frederick County Humane Society, 217 West Patrick Street, Frederick, MD 21701. www.fchs.org.
A Celebration of Dave's Life will be scheduled in the fall at Dave's home in Adamstown, MD. Everyone who knew and loved Dave is welcome to join in the celebration. To be updated about the date and time of the celebration, go to the 'Remembering Dave Leas' page on Facebook, where information will be posted periodically.
