ROY Y. HALL, age 88, of South Milford, died early Sunday morning, September 29, 2013 at home. Mr. Hall was born in Rockford, Illinois on July 9, 1925 to the late John Hall and Rinda A. (Mackenzie) Hall. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient for injuries he sustained in combat. He returned from the war and married Florence Charlyene Fritz on August 5, 1949 in LaGrange. Charlyene died just three days before Roy on September 26, 2013. They were married 64 years. Roy was a repairman and employed many years with Flint & Walling in Kendallville before retiring in 1990. After he retired, he worked in the bakery and hardware departments at WalMart in Kendallville and Auburn. Roy loved playing his banjo, especially playing with Charlie from Stroh, and also making banjos by hand. He enjoyed Detroit Tigers baseball and the bluegrass festivals. Roy loved working outside in his yard and garden, traveling all around the United States to visit family and friends, and working crossword puzzles. He was a member of the South Milford United Methodist Church.

Survivors include:
Son, Rusty Hall of South Milford.
Son, Rodney and Marie Hall of Wolf Lake.
Six grandchildren: Melissa Shepherd of South Milford, Micheal and Tiffany Hall of Angola, Chad and Bekki Hall of Tacoma, Washington, Stephanie Hall of Fort Wayne, Sarah Geiger of Auburn and Jacob Geiger of South Milford.
Four great grandchildren.
Sister, Kathleen and Bill O'Dell of LaGrange.
Sister, Darlene and Dale Kocher of Stroh.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Royetta Wilder, who died May 15, 2010; a great grandson, Bailey Hall on December 20, 2000; brothers, Cecil Hall, Jim Hall, and Ora Hall; and a sister, Marguerite Fannin.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 4:00-8:00pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 11:00am at South Milford United Methodist Church with an hour of visitation before the funeral.
Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Donna Holcomb.
Burial with military honors will be at Brushy Chapel Cemetery, LaGrange County. Military honors will be conducted by members of the honor guard teams of Kendallville VFW Post #2749 and Rome City American Legion Post #381. Casketbearers will be Rodney Hall, Micheal Hall, Jerry Fritz, Jason Fritz, Tom Osborne, Scott Frederickson, and Jeff Hicks.
