Whole family arrived in NYC then traveled west through Pennsylvania and stopped in Wayne County, Ohio for a prolonged time in order to work, save, and outfit themselves for the rest of their journey.
Noted events in his life were:
• Occupation: Charcoal Maker, Bef 1839, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. Cut down trees in the Black Forest and burned them into charcoal for sale.
• Immigration: From Baden-Wurttembert, Germany, 23 Apr 1839, New York, New York County, New York, USA. 2 Arrived in NYC, took a boat up the Hudson River, then went west via the Erie Canal (which was 15 years old at the time). Stopped in Wayne County, Ohio for a while to outfit with horses, wagons and other supplies.
• Land: Acquired 40 acres plus 40 acres, Abt 1841, French Township, Adams County, Indiana, USA.
Johannes married Anna Maria Lehmannin. (Anna Maria Lehmannin was born on 13 Aug 1775 in Dettingen an der Erms, Reutlingen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, died on 1 Apr 1847 in Indiana, USA and was buried in Newville, Wells County, Indiana, USA.)
