LEAS, Verna Marie age 78, of Richmond, IN died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006. Born March 7, 1928, in Athens, Ohio, to Lodes and Mabel Stotts Gorby, she was a resident of this area most of her life. Verna was a 1946 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Dayton, Ohio. She retired as a stock clerk from Woolworth in 1991 after 30 years. She was a life member of VFW 1108 Auxiliary and Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Leas of Richmond; son, David Leas of Evansville, Ind.; two grandchildren, Gregory Dale Paretzoglou and wife Kellee of Centerville and Daniel Martin Leas of Evansville, Ind.; sisters, Jean Warner and husband Donald of Dayton, Ohio, and Pat Thomas and husband Wayne of Hudson, Fla.; brother, Robert Gorby and wife Midge of Plymouth, Fla.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale Leas, who died in February 2002; her parents; and two brothers, Richard and Ralph Gorby. Funeral service for Verna Marie Leas will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, in the Earlham Memorial Mausoleum, 1101 National Road W., Richmond, with Rev. Sam Smith officiating. Entombment will be in the mausoleum. Friends may call from noon-2 p.m. Monday at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road W., Richmond. ³

Verna married Dale Hubert Leas, son of Richard Hayes Leas and Rosa Mae Noggle, on 10 May 1947 in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, USA.
