Charles E. Waite, 83, died at 3:15 a. m. today, Jan. 10, 1956, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Haun, 10 Wilbur Street, following a six month illness. The oldest of 11 children of David and Sarah Arford Waite, he was born in Tyrone on Feb. 14, 1872. On April 21, 1894, he was married to Retta Mae Lease, who died on Nov. 17, 1909. He later married Minnie Mae Wallace on Nov. 27, 1912, and she passed away Feb. 14, 1925, on Aug. 25, 1930, he was married to Cora Lee Wilson, who survives.

Mr. Waite was a former conductor in the employ of the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad Company, and was safety inspector for several years. He retired Dec. 31, 1941.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Greenville, and was affiliated with the Hilliards lodge of the Knights of Pythias, the Mercer L.O.O. Moose, and the Order of Railway Conductors.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Waite is survived by the following: Four sons, William H. Waite and Eugene R. Waite, both of Butler, Charles F. Waite, Akron, Donald G. Waite, Salem,O.; two daughters, Mrs. Forrest H. (Pearl) Mann, Pittsburgh, Mrs. Richard (Martha E.) Weidemann, Camden, Mo.; seven step-children, Roy and William Wilson, Mrs. Don Haun, Mrs. Glenn Hawthorne, Mrs. John Bollenbacker, all of Greenville, Mrs. Charles Bruce and Mrs. Myron Herrick, Jamestown, three sons preceded him in death.

Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Anna M. Kanour, Mrs. Myrtle Frye, Mrs. Bessie Mulhollen, all of Altoona. Funeral services are to be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Loutzenhiser home for funerals, with W.E. Minnigh officiating, with the assistance of Rev. L.H. Benson. Interment is to follow in the Shenango Valley Cemetery.

The family will receive friends in the funeral home this evening, Tuesday, from 7 to 9, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, p.m. Wednesday.
