I'm new to genealogy and I have been trying to get as much info as I can on my grandfather. From what I've been able to dig up on ancestry.com and what I do know is that (Floyd Daniel Leas) was born on 26 Sep 1924 • Blackburn, Saline, Missouri, USA to Clyde Leroy Lamley and Bessie Lee Mae Whitworth and then adopted by Elmer and Flora Leas. I know that he was adopted by Elmer and Flora as fact but having trouble substantiating birth parents. I would love to be able to locate a obituary - he died December 3, 1968. I've been able to order the birth certificate with Elmer and Flora listed, I'm going to get the death certificate soon. If anyone knows of some resources that could help me fill in some blanks I would be ever so grateful. I never met him, he died a decade before I was born - doing this research feels like it fills in a void and is fun so far.

He could be, and possibly not adopted until 1924. I remember gossip when I was younger that he was actually older than the 1924 birthday. From what I've found is that Bessie suffered from TB and most of the kids were either put up for adoption or lived with other families.
