Parr, Mary EllenDied 1949, Indiana. Alton - Mary Ellen Parr, daughter of Emily Ann Burnett and Charles Landers, was born on March 12, 1857, near Grantsburg, where she spent her girlhood. In 1871, she was married to John B. Parr, of near Alton. There they made their home and reared their family of six sons and two daughters. In her younger years, she united with the Alton Methodist Church. Her husband preceded her in death many years ago, also a son, Dr. W.L. Parr; a daughter, Mrs Sallie William; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Surviving are her sons, Thomas Parr, of Alton; Charles M. Parr, of Jeffersonville; Robert N. Parr, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; James C. Parr, of near English, and her daughter, Mrs Virgil Wilkes, with whom she made her home at Alton; 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Alton Church with the Rev Howard Wardin in charge. Burial was in the family cemetery.
