Vera Mae Williams died July 27, 2005, in Crescent City, at the age of 88.
Born in Lewiston on March 14, 1917, to Trinity County pioneers George W. and Babetta Goetz Leas, she lived on the family ranch located on Grass Valley Creek, attending grade school in the Grass Valley School, which was located above Snipe Gulch.
She was predeceased by husband Calvin Jackson, daughter Loretta June Haworth, and five sisters and brothers: Elizabeth Iverson, Amy Leas, Meta Wellock, Bernie and Leslie Leas.
She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Leslie Williams; her daughter Alta Schell (Rich); grandsons Calvin Glass Sr. (Esther), Dennis and Steven Dawley; granddaughter Donna Dawley and great-grandson Calvin Glass Jr.; nieces Nona Searcy, Maxine Rhodus, Phyllis Tedsen (Harry); and nephews Bernie F. Leas, Delbert (Barbara) and David (Peggy) Wellock.
She was a member of the Lewiston Grange since the age of 14, a longtime Rebekah Lodge member, and gave many years of volunteer service to St. Vincent De Paul in Crescent City.
Friends and family are welcome to attend services at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1031 A Street, Crescent City, at 9 a.m., followed by graveside dedication and prayer at the Crescent City Cemetery on Saturday, Aug. 6.
