Reprinted in White & Miles History of Benton Co, Vol 2, p. 31 a copy of the death notice from the Warsaw Enterprise: Died-November 14, 1903 at Hastain, Justice A. E. Lease, of acute stomach trouble and an illness of several months. He was over 60 and came to Hastain about 15 years ago. An active citizen, Liberal minded, and was a federal soldier during the Civil War. A number of Odd Fellows from the Warsaw lodge attended the funeral.
