bullet  General Notes:

Eleanor Sheehan, 91

WRENTHAM - Eleanor M. Sheehan, 91, of Harvard Lane, Wrentham, died on Sunday, June 28, 2009 in the Caritas-Norwood Hospital in Norwood, after a brief illness. She was the beloved widow of John F. Sheehan Sr., who had predeceased her on Jan. 19, 1978.

Born in Boston on June 25, 1918, she was the loving daughter of Thomas D. and Mary (Flaherty) Mullin. Raised in Canton, she was a graduate of Canton High School and Bridgewater State College, where she received a degree in early childhood education.

Eleanor retired as a library assistant at the Fiske Public Library in Wrentham, where she had worked for many years, and where she is fondly remembered by both staff and patrons alike.

An artist who enjoyed painting with watercolors, she was particularly fond of her art group at the Wrentham Senior Center. She had been at one time an active member of the St. Mary's Women's Club, and as a volunteer at the Wrentham Food Pantry. She loved to bake, cook, and sew. There was a time when she had made most of the clothing that was worn by her children.

She was famous among those who knew her, for her Parker House rolls, breads, and her congo bars. She enjoyed being creative, and also liked to do floral arranging. When relaxing, she also enjoyed reading a good book. Her children reflected upon her being a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. She had cherished the relationship that she had with her former neighbors on South Street, Ray and Monica Foulkes.

She was the loving and devoted mother of John "Jack" and Pat Sheehan of Jamestown, R.I., Susan and John Foley of Wayland, Mary Lou Wood of Wrentham, Mark and Sharon Sheehan of LasVegas, Nev., the late Jane Sheehan Rampi, Barbara Sheehan Leas and her late husband Michael Leas of Scottsdale, Ariz., Michael Sheehan of North Attleboro, Karen and Michael Mason of Dorchester Lower-Mills, Gregory Sheehan of Franklin, and Moira and her husband Christopher Jones of Washington, D.C.

She was the dear grandmother of 14 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter, the loving aunt of numerous nieces and nephews, and the loving sister of the late Louise Barrett.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday, July 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the R.J. Ross Funeral Home, 135 South St., Route 1A, Wrentham Center.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 140 South St., Route 1A, Wrentham Center.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Wrentham Public Health Nurses, 79 South St., Wrentham, MA 02093, the Caritas-Norwood Hospital, 800 Washington St., Norwood, MA 02062, or to the Fiske Public Library, 110 Randall Road, Wrentham, MA.

Arrangements are in the care of Richard Ross and the RJ Ross Funeral Home, Wrentham Center. Visit the Web site at rjrossfuneralhomeinc.com.
