Heiress presumptive to the thrones of England (later Great Britain) and Ireland under the "Act of Settlement 1701". She died less than two months before she would have become queen. Consequently, it was her son George I who succeeded her first cousin one removed, Anne.
Sophia married Ernest Augustus Elector of Hanover on 30 Sep 1658. (Ernest Augustus Elector of Hanover was born on 20 Nov 1629 in Herzberg am Harz, Gottingen, Germany and died on 23 Jan 1698 in Herrenhausen Palace, Hanover, Germany.)
