Wayne Edward Jenkins ¹

  General Notes:

Wayne Edward Jenkins, age 89, of Concord, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. Born in Trenton, Missouri, on May 15, 1919, he was the son of the late David and Avanelle (Alter) Jenkins.

Mr. Jenkins was a former resident of Searcy, having moved to Concord in 1994, and he was a retired courier for Dexter Aerospace. Mr. Jenkins was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army for approximately two years. He enjoyed his pets and his life with his wife Velma. Mr. Jenkins was a member of the Concord First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters.

Mr. Jenkins is survived by his wife, Velma Jenkins of Concord; four sons, Leonard Brock and wife, Sandy, of Concord, James Brock and wife, Terry, of Batesville, Doug Brock and wife, Theresa, of Texas, and John Brock and wife, Nora, of Greers Ferry; four daughters, Linda Anderson and husband, Stanley, of California, Hilda McDowell of Florida, Naomi Eason of Indiana, and Vickie Mitchell and husband, Junior, of Concord; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Jenkins is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 5, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 6, at 2:00 p.m. in the Concord First Baptist Church with Bro. Terry Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Wayne married Della Daisy Brackett. (Della Daisy Brackett was born on 26 Sep 1923 in Arkansas, USA, died on 28 Jul 2000 in Arkansas, USA and was buried in Mount Zion Cemetery, Banner, Cleburne County, Arkansas, USA.)
