Obituary - George Edward Poer died May 6 at Robert Long hospital in Indianapolis, of what physicians termed a rare blood disease of the leukemia family. It was the second time the youth had been stricken by the disease. From Nov. 8-Dec. 4, he was in the hospital where he was treated and finally recovered after many blood transfusions. Young Poer became ill two weeks ago. Physicians said that when he was admitted to the hospital his white blood count was only 720. The count of a normal person in 4500. He was born July 1, 1930 in Marion County to Lowell and Ethel (Flora) Poer. Survivors include his parents and sisters Marion and Joan and brothers Morris Lee and James.
