bullet  General Notes:

Presently the oldest known ancestor in the Walker line on this family site, Charles, probably of Scottish ancestry, was born in Ireland and grew to manhood there, married a woman named Elenor there, had three children in Ireland. Around 1765-1770 he moved to the New World with his growing family. After their arrival in the British colonies they settled in with a group of other Scottish-Irish immigrants in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, close to Carlise, where the children grew up and married. By the late 1700s, probably around 1795, most of the family chose to move to Knox County, Tennessee, where the wilderness was still a border on the eastern, European settlements in North America. It is not certain if Charles or Elenor lived to move to Knox County, although I have read accounts that Charles, at least, died in Tennessee.

Charles and Elenor's 6 children were:

* Prudence [Walker] Walker/Morrow, born in Ireland, circa 1762 - (?).
* James Walker, born in Ireland, circa 1764, may have died around 1832. James married Jean Patterson April 8, 1794.
* Jane Walker, born in Ireland, perhaps about 1766 - (?).
* Francis Walker, born near Carlise, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania in about 1768. Francis married Elisabeth Cambel on January 8, 1789 in Pennsylvania. Francis didn't move to Tennessee with the family, but rather Ohio; late in his life when he was an old man he moved to Kosciusko County, Indiana with his family.
* George Walker, born near Carlise, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania in about 1770, died between 1830-1840 in Wayne County, Indiana. George married Julian Jean Welsh (aka Julia Ann Welch) March 24, 1791 in Pennsylvania.
* Charles Walker, born near Carlise, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, about 1772. Charles moved his family from Knox County to western Tennessee "at an early day."
