Alice Leas

Alice Carter Leas, 86, of Maytown, passed away December 31, 2008. She was the loving wife of the late Norman David Leas. Born in Columbia, Alice was the daughter of the late Harry and Anna Gohn Carter. A member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, she was also involved with Social Ministry.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Tana Leas (Tony K.) Yung, Chesapeake, VA, and Terry (Mary Lynn) Heller, Kinzers, PA; three grandchildren, Tracy, Tana and Christina; seven great grandchildren; sisters Anne (Albert) Kraft and Emma (Richard) Penwell; two sisters-in-law, Rose Leas and Marie Carter; her devoted friend, Kathy L. Brubaker. She was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Carter.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral Service on Monday at 11 A.M. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 11 N. Queen Street, P.O. Box 96, Maytown, PA 17550. Interment will be in the Maytown Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. until 11 A.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alice's memory to her church. Smedley Funeral Home, Ltd., 29 N. Gay Street, Marietta, is in charge of arrangements.

Alice next married Norman David Leas, son of Ervin Raymond Leas and Mary Jane Amspacher, about 1943. (Norman David Leas was born on 3 Feb 1920 in York County, Pennsylvania, USA, died on 20 May 2007 in Maytown, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA and was buried in Maytown Union Cemetery, Maytown, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA.)
