Notes for JOSEPH P. HARDY:
Joseph was also called Joe. In 1891, at the age of twenty-seven, in the will of Joseph's father, Joseph is recorded as being of unsound mind. It is known that Joseph had a speech impediment.
The reason given on the application at State Hospital for admittance was:
Chronic indications to do bodily harm to family. He had dark hair, 6' 7 1/2" tall, hearing poor, leg ulcer, appetite good, 34 years old when admitted (the written record says 34, yet in actuality he would have been 47 in Feb.) He was admitted Jan 21, 1911.
In the picture Joseph had made with the family in 1907, he had a very swollen leg. Could it have been lymph edema?
