General Notes: Mabel FitzRobert, Countess of Gloucester was an Anglo-Norman noblewoman, and a wealthy heiress who brought the lordship of Gloucester, among other prestigious honours to her husband, Robert, 1st Earl of Gloucester upon their marriage. He was the illegitimate son of King Henry I of England. Wikipedia Maud married Robert "The King's Son" de Caen First Earl of Gloucester, Baron de Creully & Torigni, son of Henry "Beauclerc" I, King of England, Duke of Normandy and Nest verch Rhys Nesta of Wales, Princess of Deueubarth, about 1119. (Robert "The King's Son" de Caen First Earl of Gloucester, Baron de Creully & Torigni was born about 1090 in Caen, Calvados, Lower Normandy, France, died on 31 Oct 1147 in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England and was buried in Priory church of St. James, Bristol.) |
