Edgar G. Gunn
83, vice president of the Guaranty Trust Company died at his home in Tuckhoe Apartments Sunday morning after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Gunn who had been in the banking business for 25 years entered the lumber business with his father, James F. Gunn, soon after he completed his education in private schools here. He later became the owner of his father's business. Mr. Gunn, active in civic affairs, was past president of the local chapter of Sons of the American Revolution and was a member of the Commonwealth Club for many years. Mr. Gunn and Miss Katherine Miller were married June 4, 1890, and for several years lived on South Third Street in one of the homes built on the former site of the old Gamble mansion. Later they lived at the Monroe Terrace Apartments and recently at the Tuckahoe Apartments. Mrs. Gunn died last November. Mr. Gunn is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Donald S. Leas of Haverford, Pa., and Mrs. Syndey E. Sharwood of Richmond; four granddaughters; Mrs. Curtis Dall, Miss Mary Stuart Leas, Miss Marion Grandville Sharwood and Mrs. Robert Reynolds; one grandson, Donald Leas Jr., one sister Mrs. William Gray Watson of Richmond and two brothers; Frederick Vost Gunn of Richmond, and C. LeRoy Gunn of Baltimore, Md. Funeral services will be held at Christian's Funeral Home at 11 am Tuesday and interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery. The Rev. Fred V. Poag pastor of Second Presbyterian Church, will conduct the services. Richmond Times Dispatch, 3-31-1941 page 7
