Henrietta Elizabeth Bromwell, in the Bromwell Genealogy stated, "The name of Leas is an old one in Oley, Bucks Co, PA, where they are related and intermarried with the Boone's long before the time of settlement of Kentucky." This statement was included in the notes of George's wife, Elizabeth Fullenwider.

The following was written by David A. Leas: (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LEAS/message/691)

Catherine's first husband was Peter Fullenwider (1760-1790).
Catherine and Peter had three children, one of whom died as an infant.
The other two children were Elizabeth Fullenwider (1785-1869) and
Colonel Henry Fullenwider (1788-1870).

Elizabeth was 5 years old and Henry was 3 years old when their father
died. Jonathan Boone became the father of these two young children.
Catherine and Jonathan had three children of their own, Francis,
Isaiah and Sophia.

On April 3, 1805, Elizabeth Fullenwider married George Leas (died 1859
in Indiana). George and Elizabeth had eight children, Rice Boone,
Cecilia, Elvira, Indiana, Louisa Harriet, Melissa Jacintha, Julia Ann
and Isabel. The first three children were born in Shelby County,
Kentucky and the fourth child, Indiana, was born in Indiana. (I
wonder where they came up with that name.) When George and Elizabeth
moved to Indiana it was near Alton, Indiana located in Crawford
County, close to the Ohio River.

George is not listed with Elizabeth, Rice, Cecilia, Julia Ann and Louisa in Boone Township, Crawford County, Indiana in the 1850 U.S. Census.

According to the 1850 U.S. Census, there is a George Lease, who was born in Maryland in 1787, living in Charlestown, Clark County, Indiana. His real estate was worth $1,000.

Noted events in his life were:

• United States Census: Resided, 1810, Shelby County, Kentucky, USA.

• United States Census: Residence, 1820, Charlestown, Clark County, Indiana, USA.

• Military: U.S. Army Infantry, 1832-1842, Crawford County, Indiana, USA. 5
