Bert E. Shipe

A retired farmer, Bert E. Shipe, 82, of Ashley, passed away at 1:40
p.m.
Sunday, July 28, at the DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn following a
brief illness.
A native of Dekalb County, Mr. Shipe was born on October 3, 1885, a
son of
the late Henry and Kathryn Shipe. He was united in marriage to Hannah
Cottrell on February 3, 1912. The couple have resided at 505 State St.,
Ashley, for 37 years.
Surviving besides his wife, Hannah, are four sons, John of Rt. 1,
Pleasant
Lake, and Cecil, Carl and Robert all of Ashley; a brother, Lloyd of
Ashley; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Swank Funeral Home in Ashley, where frneral
services will be conducted at 2 p.m. , Thursday, August 1, with the Rev.
Jim Harnish, pastor of the Ashley Church of Christ, officiating. Interment
will follow in the Circle Cemetery near Hudson.
