SOURCE CITATION: Page: p. 138 Text: In 1775 or 76 when SquireBoone's family moved to Fort Boonesborough from NC, Jonathan, then a boy of about nine was brought along. As a small boy, hewas present at the Siege of Boonesborough, and in the spring of1779, went with the family in their move to the Falls of theOhio (Louisvill). In that same year he was taken by his fatherto Kaskaska (illinois) where he was left to learn the Frenchlanguage. Here he remained four years. About four years afterhis return from Kaskaska, which would be in 1787, he was sent toBerks County, Pa, to stay with relatives and attend school. Here his father's cousin, James Boone, gave him instructions. When he returned home to Kentucky, the next year, he brough withhim the "Boone Genealogy" written by James Boone and dated 21March 1788. After this there is no further record of him untilhis marriage in 1793 to Mrs. Catherine (Rice) Fullenwider, whowas a daughter of Jacob I and Anne Rice. Her first husband, Peter Fullenwider died of malaria, leaving her with severalchildren. The marriage of Jonathan and Mrs. Fullenwider tookplace while his father was away on his trip to St. Simon's Fla.,and his visit into Pa. For a while they lived at Rice's Fort,Shelby County, Ky; then moved to Brandenburg Ky from which place they eventually moved to Crawford County, Ind (possibly to Alton or near there) where he died in 1837.
