As a small boy, hewas present at the Siege of Boonesborough, and in the spring of1779, went with the family in their move to the Falls of theOhio (Louisvill). In that same year he was taken by his fatherto Kaskaska (illinois) where he was left to learn the Frenchlanguage. Here he remained four years. After this there is no further record of him untilhis marriage in 1793 to Mrs. Catherine (Rice) Fullenwider, whowas a daughter of Jacob I and Anne Rice.
