SHARPSVILLE - David Mark Brumbaugh, 66, of Sharpsville died Friday, March 23, 2007, at approximately 2:30 a.m. at Howard Community Hospital.

Mr. Brumbaugh grew up in South Bend and graduated from Clay High School in 1958. He studied Spanish and history at Manchester College and graduated in 1962, then earned a master's degree from Indiana University. He married Jolynn Reinoehl on June 14, 1964, and moved to Sharpsville to begin a teaching career.

He retired as a Spanish teacher at Haworth and Kokomo High School after 37 years of teaching in the same room. He was active in the teachers' bowling league and breakfast club.

Mr. Brumbaugh was a active member of the community, the owner of Brumbaugh's Florist, a proud member of Sharpsville United Methodist Church, a member of the Liberty Township Advisory Board since 1982, the current treasurer and past president of the Sharpsville Lions Club and the current president of the Tipton County Historical Society.

He combined his love of history and his love of travel with a passion for genealogy. He studied his family's roots and recently returned from a trip to Brombach, Germany, the home of his ancestors. His other travels included Spain, Mexico, France, Switzerland and Scotland.

His interests also included sports, as a lifelong fan of Chicago Cubs baseball, Notre Dame football, Indiana University basketball and Tri-Central High School sports, especially wrestling. He supported Little League as a father, coach and team sponsor.

He touched many lives as a teacher, community leader and proud family member with his smile, humor and love.
