February 18, 2013
JoLynn Brumbaugh

\emdash JoLynn Brumbaugh (Reinoehl) passed away in her sleep at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013. She was best known as the owner of Brumbaugh's Greenhouse in Sharpsville, a fixture in the local community.

Born in DeKalb County to Willis and Latrielle (Leas) Reinoehl, she was raised on the family farm with her three sisters. She graduated from Ashley High School and performed vocal and piano in several choral groups in the local area. JoLynn attended Manchester College, where she made several lifelong friends and also met her husband-to-be, David, in chapel. They were married on June 14, 1964. Graduating in the Manchester College class of 1964, she moved with David to Bloomington, where they both attended Indiana University. She received her degree in library sciences and moved with David again to Sharpsville, where she accepted a teaching job at Sharpsville High School. Shortly after that, she moved to Taylor High School and was the founder of the library program.

In 1970, JoLynn opened Brumbaugh's Greenhouse in Sharpsville. What started as a hobby and passion for floral arrangements continued for 40 years as JoLynn provided the local community with flowers for weddings, proms, Valentine's Day, Easter, Christmas and a host of other events. It is hard to argue that nearly everyone in the area has at one time or another received flowers from JoLynn.

JoLynn served her community in many other ways. A member of Sharpsville United Methodist Church, she participated in the choir and played piano every Sunday, as well as serving as a volunteer in Bible school, fundraising events, ministries, and on several leadership committees. She was the creator and driving force behind the world-famous "Sharpsville Corn Maze," a community event every fall for the last 15 years. She also participated in Lions Club, Homemakers Extension, and the Tipton Housing Board. She was proud of her community and served internationally, twice hosting foreign exchange students from Ukraine. JoLynn also traveled internationally, visiting Mexico, Spain, Scotland and the county of her ancestors, Germany.

JoLynn Brumbaugh traveled long and far, touched many lives, and is now finally home.

JoLynn is survived by her sons, Les and Grady Brumbaugh; her grandchildren, Cheyenne, Owen, Caleb and Emerson Robyn, who was born into this world Sunday; and her sisters, Shirley Keller, Arlien Mertz and Willa Fershee.

Her husband, David, and daughters, Noreen and Doreen preceded her in death.

A viewing will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sharpsville United Methodist Church. Services will follow at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Services are provided by Boyer Funeral Home of Sharpsville. She will be laid to rest in Sharpsville Cemetery.
