The following narrative is from David Leas, great-grandson:

My memories of Grandma Spangler are very limited. I remember that she lived in Hudson and that she had, what I thought at the time to be, a large front porch. I also vaguely remember that there was an arch of plants that you had to walk through. There was also an old carriage garage behind the house.



The 1880 Census of York, Fulton Co, Ohio shows that Malisa Hiner was single, white and 14 years old. She was employed by Nancy Biddle as a housekeeper.

Melissa married Ursinus Ambrose M. Spangler, son of Rev. Peter J. Spangler and Rachel A. Everhart, on 18 Sep 1884 in Defiance, OH.¹⁸³ (Ursinus Ambrose M. Spangler was born on 23 Nov 1863 in Franklin Twp, Summit, Ohio ² and died on 20 Apr 1941 in Winton, CA ¹⁸⁴.)
