Leola M. Leas

Ashley - Leola M. Leas, 93, a resident of Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home in Columbia City, died there Thursday at 1:10 a.m.

Born Nov. 12, 1885 she was the daughter of Ambrose and Melissa (Hinner) Spangler. She married Warren Earl Leas Sept. 1, 1909 in Ashley. He proceeded her in death Aug. 7, 1956.

Mrs. Leas had been a former resident of Ashley and had resided at the nursing home the past 9 ½ years.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Knight of Lancaster, Calif., seven sons, Lawrence Leas of Simi, Calif., Lyle Leas of Mesa, Ariz., Eugene and Vance Leas, both of rural Ashley, Arnold Leas of Fort Wayne, Rex Leas of Arcadia, Fla., and one sister, Mrs. Guy (Gladys) Lepley of Ashley and now of the Meadow Haven Nursing Home in Butler, one brother, Gladwin Spangler of Jamestown, Calif, 26 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. In the Kistler Funeral Home in Hudson, with Rev. Bill Hurleson of the St. John's United Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial will be in Circle Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday.
